Grout
This is the material found between most floor and wall tiles. Grouting usually consists of a cement base which may be similar to ordinary grey cement or may be coloured with various pigments such as iron oxides or various other synthetic or mineral-based pigments.
Grouting cements may also contain acrylic or latex resins to impart flexibility, promote adhesion, increase chemical resistance, or to make them more water resistant. Some grouting materials, where chemical resistance or hygiene considerations are paramount, are made with epoxy resins. Grouting should be sealer to facilitate easier cleaning or to prevent staining. Grouting in bathrooms is sealed to prevent growth of mould and mildew. Grouting is normally sealer with repellents or impregnators.
